Stories & Spotlights

Washington Virtual Academies is proud to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2025 with a milestone moment that brings our online community together, and in person.

This year’s graduation ceremony took place at the Washington State Fairgrounds in Puyallup, welcoming more than 1,500 attendees for an inspiring celebration. With 225 graduates crossing the stage during the in-person ceremony, and a total graduating class of 440 students, this event highlights both the flexibility and connection that Washington Virtual Academies offers students statewide.

Though Washington Virtual Academies students learn virtually, this graduation ceremony offered a powerful opportunity to celebrate together. Family, friends, and educators from across Washington gathered to recognize not just academic achievements, but the resilience, growth, and community spirit that define the next wave of professionals.

Speakers at the ceremony included Omak School District Superintendent Michael Porter, Washington Virtual Academies Executive Director, Susan Boyer, and Middle and High School Principal, Terry Ackerman, who reflected on the journey and promise of Washington Virtual Academies students.

This year, eight Valedictorians were honored for their outstanding academic performance. The ceremony featured live musical performances by graduates as well as some inspiring students making waves as they head out post grad.

Victoria honored the nation by singing the National Anthem, lending her voice to this meaningful milestone. Washington Virtual Academies’ eSports program was also recognized, with several four-year varsity players having graduated this year. Congratulations to Foster, Haarun, Jasper, Ileye, and Isaac for their dedication and leadership. Two standout players, Josiah and Foster, are even exploring opportunities to return to the program next year as college interns, helping mentor and guide the next generation of student competitors.

Washington Virtual Academies’ graduating class of 2025 included students with diverse passions and remarkable journeys. Emma is setting her sights on a future in zoology, while Mark is pursuing a path toward medical school with a focus on pediatric infectious diseases.

Jessica hopes to return to the school one day as an English teacher, bringing her educational journey full circle. Grace earned direct admission to Seattle University’s School of Engineering, and Chance balanced his academic responsibilities while actively competing as a rodeo athlete.

Other inspiring students include Alanna who will study nursing at BYU, Rianna is heading to culinary school to turn her passion for food into a career, and Megan, who has been with Washington Virtual Academies since Kindergarten, marks the end of a long and meaningful educational journey.

As Washington Virtual Academies celebrated the Class of 2025, we also recognize the families, teachers, and support staff who have made this journey possible. This graduation was more than a ceremony; it’s a symbol of the dedication and heart that powers virtual learning.

Congratulations to all graduates! Your hard work, perseverance, and dreams have brought you to this moment and the future is yours to create.
