Stories & Spotlights

From the very first day of kindergarten through to 5th grade, Kaleb has maintained perfect attendance and a cumulative GPA of 4.0. His academic journey has been shaped by significant personal challenges, including a shift in his home life where his grandparents now play an integral role in his daily life and learning.

Kaleb’s grandmother and legal guardian, acts as his Learning Coach. This partnership has allowed for a highly personalized education approach, leveraging frequent communications with teachers, counselors, and the principal to ensure that Kaleb’s educational needs are met. His grandmother’s involvement as his learning coach provides Kaleb with the tailored support he requires as a visual learner, allowing him to thrive under her guidance.

Despite his young age, Kaleb has had to navigate more than just academic challenges, including significant medical treatments, yet he remains a beacon of hope and resilience. Kaleb’s daily routine at Washington Virtual Academies is structured yet flexible, allowing him to manage his assignments and participate in live classes, despite the unpredictable nature of his medical needs.
