Meet WAVA’s Robotics Rockstar

Stories & Spotlights
Aidan robotics win

After months of coding, troubleshooting, and pushing their virtual robots to the limit, top teams from around the country came together on June 3, 2025, for the final showdown at K12 Headquarters in Reston, Virginia.

For the grand finale, the competition shifted from coding simulations to real-world robotics using EV3 robots and physical mats. Nine finalist teams—three from each grade band (4–6, 7–9, and 10–12)—competed in three action-packed rounds of practice, precision, and performance.

In the 10–12 grade division, WAVA A-Team earned a well-deserved 2nd Place finish—and the best part? It was a one-student team!

Shout-out to Aidan, a 10th grader at WAVA, who took on the challenge solo and still soared to the top. With a best score of 40 and a blazing-fast run time of just 11.67 seconds, Aidan proved that determination, focus, and skill can go a long way—even without a team!

Only one team in each grade band could take home the top trophy—but every finalist earned national recognition. As a 2nd Place winner, Aidan received an official K12 Robotics League certificate and serious bragging rights for his incredible performance.

From his very first lines of code to the final round of in-person competition, our WAVA finalist brought creativity, focus, and unstoppable energy. We’re incredibly proud of how Aidan rose to the challenge, and we can’t wait to see where his STEM journey takes him next!

Let’s hear it for Aidan, a shining example of what’s possible when passion meets perseverance!
