Coding, Creativity, and Class Connects: Aidan’s Standout Year at Washington Virtual Academies

Stories & Spotlights

At Washington Virtual Academies, 10th grader Aidan is thriving in an environment that lets him learn on his terms. With a passion for problem-solving and a recent national robotics win under his belt, he’s charting a path toward a bright future.

Aidan has been a Washington Virtual Academies student for three years. He plans to continue with Washington Virtual Academies through to graduation, drawn to the school’s unique model that allows him to work at his own pace, prioritize his daily lessons, and access recorded class sessions whenever he needs to review or catch up. For Aidan, having balance is a game-changer.

“It’s helpful to be able to go back and watch recordings or review lessons before a test,” he said. “It’s one of the things that really sets Washington Virtual Academies apart from other schools.”

Aidan recently made headlines at Washington Virtual Academies after securing 2nd place in the 2025 K12 Robotics National Competition as part of the Washington Virtual Academies A-Team. Competing in the 10th–12th grade division, Aidan’s performance stood out; his problem-solving skills and determination were especially evident during the final round. This in-person

competition was a major milestone for him, and one that his school community is incredibly proud of.

Aidan keeps a structured schedule during the school year, often starting his lessons early before joining live teacher-led sessions. For the coming school year, he’s planning to explore new activities at Washington Virtual Academies and discover what interests him.

When he’s not focused on schoolwork, Aidan enjoys reading, playing video games, and relaxing with his cat. He’s also looking forward to a low-key summer full of books, fresh air, and movie outings. And after celebrating his brother Tyler’s recent graduation with a special family gathering at home, Aidan is even more inspired about what lies ahead.

As he heads into 11th grade, Aidan is eager to broaden his experiences. “I’m looking forward to seeing what other activities I can do in addition to my classes,” he said. With his talent, drive, and supportive learning environment, there’s no doubt Aidan is on a path to continued success. Congratulations again to Aidan and the Washington Virtual Academies A-Team on their impressive robotics achievement, we can’t wait to see what you do next!
