Kala Lougheed | Grades K–5 Assistant Principal

Hello WAVA!  My name is Kala Lougheed.  I am starting my 10th year in administration, most of those years in elementary.  Prior to that, I was a high school teacher in both face-to-face and online environments.  I have wanted to be a teacher since I was about four years old.  I am beyond excited to be joining all of you in my next adventure in education!

I am a Montana native but have been in my husband’s birth state of WA for a decade.  We are high school sweethearts, celebrating 16 years of marriage this month.  We are proud parents to a rising freshman (Ella) and a rising middle schooler (Maddie).  Their activities keep us hopping.  When not spending time in gyms around our region, we can be found making a quick trip to visit Montana to see our extended family, exploring the outdoors, or spending time with friends.  In addition to a mom, I am the fiercely proud auntie of a 7, 5, and 3 year old and 5 month old twins.  Family is a huge part of our lives and time! While I will be experiencing a learning curve, I am here to help however I can! Please do not hesitate to reach out if I can support you in any way! I hope to meet many of you in Tacoma, otherwise I will “see” you soon online!  Here’s a family photo from Maine, my husband Ryan, daughter Ella (freshman), me, and daughter Maddie (6th grade). Maine is home of my 5 month old twin nephews, my husband’s twin brother and his wife.
