Letter From the WAVA Head of School

A Letter from the WAVA Head of School

Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

Welcome to Washington Virtual Academies (WAVA), an Alternative Learning Experience program of the Omak school district, and the 2019–2020 school year. We are honored that you have chosen to enroll and educate your student(s) with us this year.

At WAVA, we believe every student can succeed – no exceptions. When you enroll in WAVA, you enroll in more than a school. You join a vibrant learning community of dedicated teachers, school staff, and parents committed to seeing each and every student achieve their full potential.  Without a doubt, online learning requires student dedication and commitment, and the rewards of personal growth and academic improvement are well worth the effort. In addition, we believe that schooling online develops important learning and life skills such as perseverance, self-advocacy, and organizational skills.

WAVA has an important list of core values that sum up what WAVA faculty and staff aspire to instill in their students each and every school day:

Effort Creates Ability

  • Active participation – get involved.
  • Perseverance – stick to it and good things will come.
  • Be proactive – plan Ahead and Use your Time Effectively.

Communicate, Collaborate, Celebrate

  • Engage with others with kindness and courtesy, honesty and integrity.
  • Focus on success
  • Community matters – Join in!

Make Each Day Meaningful

  • Find balance
  • Reflection
  • Turn mistakes into opportunities – Develop a growth mindset.

Again, thank you for choosing Washington Virtual Academies. Here's to a very successful and enjoyable school year!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Shelton
