Assessments for Grades 3–8

REQUIRED STATE ASSESSMENTS—What you need to know!

Students in grades 3–8 are required to participate in state-mandated academic assessments.  Students will participate in the Smarter Balance English/Language Arts exam and the Smarter Balance Mathematics exam.  Students in grades 5 or 8 will also take the WCAP Science exam.  All exams are computer based and will be completed in person at one of our test sites around Washington State. Failure to attend required assessments may result in the student being placed on an intervention plan, or being ineligible for re-enrollment in the future.

You will be assigned to a Spring Testing Site that is within one hour of your home.  Starting in November, you may view and confirm your assigned testing site by clicking the Family Login link at our Testing Portal at https://www.testingnirvana.com/login/index.php and entering your information.

Students who live more than one hour from the nearest testing site may choose to travel to the nearest available testing site, or request that their exams be scheduled with their legal resident school district instead. Eligibility requirements apply.

To request that you be allowed to complete your Spring Testing at your legal resident school district instead of our testing site, please contact your Assessment Coordinator, Danielle Beyer, for a link to the application.

Questions regarding your testing schedule or assigned site can be directed to your Assessment Coordinator, Danielle Beyer, at dbeyer@wava.org or by calling 253.964.1068 and asking for the Assessment Team.
