Letter From Head of School

A letter from the Washington Virtual Academies' Head of School

Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

Welcome to Washington Virtual Academies (WAVA) a program of the Omak school district, and the 2017-2018 school year. We are honored that you have chosen to enroll and educate your student(s) with us this year.

This will be WAVA’s 12th year serving K-12 students in the state of Washington.  Over our first decade, a lot has changed and advanced with the technology systems that support our digital school.  This coming year will be no different.  Our entire community is extremely excited by some of the new courses and support systems that are going to be implemented.  We believe that these improvements will help us towards our goal of meeting the learning needs of each and every one of our students.

One thing that will not change is our ongoing commitment to our school’s core values listed here:

Effort Creates Ability

  • Active Participation – get involved.
  • Perseverance – Stick to it and good things will come.
  • Be Proactive - Plan Ahead and Use your Time Effectively.

Communicate, Collaborate, Celebrate

  • Engage with others with kindness and courtesy, honesty and integrity.
  • Focus on Success
  • Community Matters – Join in !!

Make Each Day Meaningful

  • Find Balance
  • Reflection
  • Turn Mistakes into Opportunities

These key statements help guide our teachers conversations with students towards the behaviors and actions that will help them to develop a growth mindset and succeed. I encourage you to discuss these with your children and remind them of their importance with regards to their school work and activities.

At WAVA, we believe every student can flourish when given the opportunity and proper supports.  When you enroll in WAVA, you enroll in more than a school.  You join a vibrant learning community of dedicated teachers, and parents committed to seeing each and every student achieve up to their potential.  Without a doubt online learning requires student dedication and commitment, but the rewards of personal growth and academic improvement are well worth the effort!

On behalf of our dedicated school community of educators, I look forward to welcoming you into the Washington Virtual Academies.

Warm Regards,

Mark Christiano
